The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) initiated Children’s Health Month as a way to remind parents and other caregivers to protect kids from environmental risks.

Use EPA’s October calendar (PDF) for daily tips to keep your kids safe. Here are a few examples:
Test your home for radon and make fixes if it tests at 4 pCi/L or more. For help, call 1-800-SOS-RADON.
Prevent poisoning by storing away your household chemicals.
Eliminate asthma triggers, such as mold, dust mites, and smoke.
• Try to
reduce your child’s exposure to ticks, which can spread Lyme Disease.
• Find tips for ensuring your child’s
health and safety on Halloween.
