Free Income Tax Preparation

Keep All of Your Tax Refund

As Benjamin Franklin famously said “In this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes”.

Every year, Americans must file federal and state income tax returns. For many people, just the thought of having to file taxes can cause anxiety. From trying to determine which credits and deductions you can take to decoding puzzling tax laws, preparing taxes can be overwhelming.

As an alternative to paid preparers, which can charge high filing fees, NEOCAA offers free tax return preparation services for income eligible individuals.

Through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, NEOCAA-sponsored volunteers assist individuals and households with free tax preparations, as well as electronic filing of basic tax returns.

The VITA program offers free tax help to people who make $64,000 or less (AGI).

The trained volunteers prepare tax returns in Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Delaware and Ottawa counties. Tax preparation services are offered year-round at our main office in Jay and at churches and other convenient locations throughout our service area during tax season.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we did not hold any off-site tax preparation services during the 2021 tax season. However, the services are still available by appointment at our office. Call (918) 253-4683, ext. 110 or email lthorpe@neocaa.org for more information or to make an appointment.

Times and locations of area tax preparation sites will be posted once we resume offering these services.

We could not offer this program without our amazing volunteers. If you would like to become a VITA volunteer, call us at (918) 253-4683, ext. 157

Who Is Eligible?
